Okay ladies, we've all been there where our eyeliner is melted under our eyes or smudged onto our upper lids...but we don't ever have to experience it again! If you're willing to add a few new products into your makeup bag and add 30 extra seconds to your routine, you can say goodbye to the smudge!
1. Moisturize
Before starting all of your makeup, I highly recommend that you use an eye cream around the eye area to keep it from getting dry or irritated with product use. Makeup can take it's toll on that delicate skin, so you want to make sure you keep it happy with a high quality eye cream. It will also help your products go on more smoothly and evenly while keeping your eyelid skin from looking dry and flaky.
Gently dab (don't rub) eye cream onto the orbital bone area of your eye. Your eye cream will migrate so you do not need to apply it to your entire eyelid. This can cause puffiness, especially when applied too heavily in the evening.

2. Prime
Once your eye cream has totally soaked into your skin, you can move onto priming your eyes. This step is so important and so often disregarded in women's makeup routines. Priming your eyes will change everything...seriously! I remember dealing with the smudgy eyeliner, feeling like I had "greasy" eyelids. Once I added a quality eye primer into my regimen I said goodbye to that mess!
My go to eye primer for years has been the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I use it in the shade 'Eden' because it is tinted to help conceal as well as prime. A little bit goes a long way with this product. Shown in the photo is the amount I use to cover both eyes! Gently dab the product along the entire space of your eye lid, from lash to brow. I also apply a very small amount just under my eyes to help prime for any liner or shadows on my lower lash line.

3. Conceal
This step is optional based off of your preference. I like to conceal under my eyes to help even out any dark color, and to help brighten and highlight that area of my face. If you choose not to do this...skip to step 4!
I applied the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the shade "light" to match my skin tone while still adding some brightness to the under eye area. I used my Beauty Blender sponge to blend out the product, and voila!

4. Set
Now that you have primed and concealed your eyes, the next important step is to set everything with a powder or eye shadow that is near your skin color. This will also act as a base for applying the rest of your eye shadow colors. Doing this will make blending your eye shadows easier and make them appear more vibrant, especially when using bolder colors.
I can't live without the Urban Decay Naked palette. I use it everyday with every look I do because it has all your basic essentials for any makeup look. I use the shade "foxy" to set my eye primer and concealer. Any matte eye shadow or powder that resembles your skin will work for this. I recommend applying it with a fluffy blending brush to quickly and easily buff the product onto the entire upper lid area. For under the eyes, use more of a patting motion to lock in that concealer and keep it from budging!

Now you are ready to fearlessly apply the rest of your eye makeup! If you still have trouble keeping your eyeliner from smudging, try a waterproof or long lasting eyeliner to be sure it will stay all day long.
